Grocery Tax

Earlier this year Illinois repealed the statute requiring a 1.5% grocery tax. They did leave the decision up to each municipality whether or not to reinstate it by ordinance before October 1st.
The Rossville Village Board and President unanimously agreed NOT to re-instate the sales tax. Removal of the tax is effective January 1, 2026.
Economic conditions are not favorable for many people. This is one more way your local government is working for every member of the community.
